Professional Development for Future Faculty
In January 2008, the University's new Graduate and Professional Writing Center (GPWC) opened for business in Smith CUE 414. The GPWC features one-on-one in-person consultations, peer groups, and an onsite resource library.
Appointments
Appointments to meet in person can be scheduled. Writing projects should be emailed to gpwc@wsu.edu at least 24 hours before scheduled appointment.
Our Mission
The mission of the GPWC is to assist graduate and professional students from all disciplines with all types of written communications — from papers and publications that must be written as researchers, to syllabi and assignments students must prepare as teachers.

- evaluation of submitted materials and coaching on writing skills and strategies
- help with organization, grammar, style, process, and other issues
Our Staff
Han Quek (co-coordinator) holds a Master of Arts in English and is finishing his Ph.D. in English. Along with his expertise in Comparative Ethnic Studies, Han is also knowledgeable in technical writing and the composition of professional documents.
Wesley A. Andrews (co-coordinator) holds a Master of Arts in English and is working on a Master of Education in School Counseling. He specializes in Rhetoric, Counseling Psychology, and Secondary Education, and he has moderate experience with Sociology and Statistics.
Larry N. Mayer completed his M.F.A. degree in Creative Writing at the University of Idaho. A college and urban high school teacher since 1989, Larry currently teaches Research and Writing, Fiction Writing, and Representations of the Holocaust in Literature and Film.
Shannon C. Gleason is working on a Master of Arts in Teaching with an endorsement in the study of English Language Learning. She specializes in English and Education, and she is confident within the fields of History, Philosophy, and Teaching English as a Foreign Language.
