Dr. Jeannie Griffin Bennett hired as Pullman Writing Center Director

Dr. Angela Mitchell, Director of the Writing Program, is pleased to announce that Dr. Jeannie Griffin Bennett has been hired as Writing Center Director for the Pullman campus. “I’m thrilled to welcome Dr. Griffin Bennett to our team,” said Dr. Mitchell. ”Along with her dedication to peer tutoring as a model for effective student learning, Dr. Griffin Bennett also brings a spirit of collaboration and inquiry to the Writing Center. Her PhD and extensive teaching experience in Professional and Technical Writing is a great fit for a Writing Center Director at a land grant institution, and I am particularly excited about working with her to embrace the opportunities and challenges that AI is bringing to our students and faculty at WSU.”

Dr. Jeannie Griffin Bennett joined WSU in Fall 2022 as a Teaching Assistant Professor in the English Department on the Pullman Campus. Dr. Giffin Bennett earned a PhD in Technical Communication and Rhetoric from Texas Tech University and has a background in STEM.  During her faculty career, Dr. Griffin Bennett taught a diverse array of professional and technical writing and gained extensive experience in writing program administration. Since joining WSU, Dr. Griffin Bennett has been both a Core to Career and LIFT faculty fellow and an IDEA grant winner. Dr. Griffin Bennett’s work focuses on effective teaching and learning strategies and emphasizing inclusive and accessible approaches to writing instruction. In her new role as the director of the writing center, Dr. Griffin Bennett is committed to serving WSU students in their growth as writers, to finding innovative ways to meet the needs of writers in today’s technological landscape, and to collaborating with faculty in their ongoing support of their students’ learning.
