Undergraduate Writing Center Consultants Detail Decades of Student Impacts
The WSU Undergraduate Writing Center is in its fourth decade, and its director, Brooklyn Walter, and five student consultants presented on the program Oct. 18-20 at the National Conference on Peer Tutoring in Writing in Tacoma.
The consultants assist and guide their student peers at the center, which is part of the WSU Writing Program.
The conference promotes the teaching of writing through collaborative learning, said Angela Mitchell, director of the Writing Program.

“Dr. Walter especially noted how the students honed their professionalism and networking skills at the conference.”
The Writing Center provides support to undergraduates as they clarify, develop, and articulate their ideas in writing. The format of consultations is conversation and peer-collaboration. Consultants are tutoring in writing experts and come from majors across the university.
