Professional Editing Service Center

NOTE: The WSU Writing Program is announcing the closure of the Professional Editing Service Center (PESC), effective Spring 2026. The service has been on hiatus since August 2025 as we reviewed its financial and human resources impacts on the WSU Writing Program.

After a thorough review, it has been determined that the need for the service has passed because of competing, emergent technologies that support editing and proofing. Further, there were significant fiscal challenges with the PESC due to the nature of the contract work in the center, and the Writing Program no longer has the fiscal resources to support a service like PESC.

We do not anticipate a significant impact on WSU faculty or students since the service has not been highly utilized by members of our community post-pandemic. We encourage graduate students to utilize our Graduate Writing Center, which is a free service for students that provides trained graduate tutors who support a variety of writing needs.
