Undergraduate Writing Center Staff and Consultants
About Us
Our Philosophy
The Writing Center is built on a peer-to-peer tutoring model, where trained WSU student consultants work student-writers in collaborative, conversation-based sessions. We believe that writing improves through dialogue, reflection, and practice, and that every student has valuable ideas to contribute.
Our goal is to help writers develop confidence, strengthen their thinking, and build strategies they can carry into future writing projects. Rather than editing papers, consultants guide writers as they explore ideas, make decisions, and take ownership of their work.
We are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for students from all backgrounds, disciplines, and levels of experience. By supporting writers across the university, the Writing Center plays an important role in fostering communication, critical thinking, and academic success within the broader university community.
We believe that creating and sharing expertise helps to solve problems at all scales and to address the multifaceted issues that impact people across Washington, the nation, and the world. Through continual training and professional development, we strive to maintain a culture and a practice where peers reflect, collaborate, and learn, and where writers are supported and empowered.
